What's life without a little risk?

Or a lot of risk, if you're Sebastian Carlisle. He'll never live up to the legacy of his dead brother, so why try? Being the wild child in a family of stuck-up rich snobs suits him just fine.

Until he meets Micah Burke, and everything changes.

Micah's got too much going on for a relationship. Even if he could trust Sebastian, a distraction—a sexy, reckless distraction with a death wish—would only derail his carefully scheduled life. If it were just Micah, maybe that would be fine, but his mother and sister depend on him, and he can't let them down. Or at least that's what he tells himself.

A hot moment leads to a hot night leads to a connection neither of them are ready for. And when a crisis hits Micah's family hard, Sebastian will have to shed his bad-boy image and decide whether he can be the man Micah needs—and Micah needs to decide whether he'll let him.

I have read both books in the Letting Go series and I have to say both are terrific. You can feel the emotions of the characters and it is heartbreaking at times. The characters have difficulties to overcome before they get their HEA. The ways in which these issues are resolved are realistic and you can understand why the characters act the way that they do. The only thing I could suggest would be maybe an epilogue four or five years later so that we can see that everything did work out the way they planned. I'm going to assume it did! I also would have liked to see more resolution regarding Conrad. He was so hateful to Sebastian, I would have liked to see him get taught a lesson. I guess Sebastian's sucess was a lesson in itself, but I wanted the guy fired! The author did keep my attention throughout both books. I couldn't put them down. I can't wait until the next book in the series!

Reckless Hope Letting Go Book 2 edition by j leigh bailey Romance eBooks Reviews

Sebastian appears to have it all--friends, money and a great lifestyle. But underneath all that charm and bravado lies a an insecure man who only wants to be accepted for who he is and not who he could be or what he can give you.

Micah's life is certainly not what he expected. Taking care of his mother, being a guardian to his sister, going to school and working are taking his toll on him. He doesn't have time for a relationship, and even less time to waste on a rich handsome boy who has never had to fight for anything in his life. But there's something about Sebastian that draws him in and soon these two young men find common ground and support in each other.

I have to say that after reading Nobody's Hero I was looking forward to reading more from J. Leigh Bailey. I love the fact that the main characters are young men who are trying to get their life in order where one of them appears to have it all figured out and the other is struggling to make it through.

On the surface, this is the case with Reckless Hope. We have Sebastian, who appears to not have a care in the world and who has had everything handed to him. Then we have Micah, a man struggling to keep his life's burdens from getting out of control. However, for me, it was Sebastian who was dealing with the greater burden trying to live up to his dead brother and having to pretend every day of his life that nothing got to him. Don't get me wrong, I understood Micah's struggles, but to me he appeared to be the stronger of the two and his burdens--although great--seemed manageable.

That aside, I think the author did a great job in bringing both Sebastian and Micah's issues to the forefront while still taking the time to build on their connection, which I appreciated. I enjoyed watching as Micah struggled to lower the walls he had erected around him and allowing Sebastian into his life. Likewise, I enjoyed seeing as Sebastian came into himself and accepted that he couldn't be anyone but himself.

It helped that their connection was firmly established on the page and that they shared an overwhelming amount of chemistry that sparked whenever they were together. Be it while they talked honestly or bickered, that chemistry was an ever present entity. Which I came to appreciate. ;-)

Keep in mind that although this is the second book in the Letting Go series, it can be read as a stand alone.

All in all, a fantastic opposite attract story of two young men finally allowing themselves the chance to love and be loved.
Micah Burke has the weight of the world on his shoulders, at least it feels that way. Being the guardian to his 14 year old sister, as well as the sole caretaker to his mother who was severely injured in a car crash where his father was killed, takes a lot out of a 19 year old kid. To support his family, he works in a restaurant as well as a nursing home. Somehow he also finds time to go to college part time to study nursing. So when he has his 1 night off a month, he likes to go dancing, where he meets the drop dead gorgeous Sebastian Carlisle. What could a little stress relief hook up hurt? Of course things didn’t go as planned, and Micah has to run off to help out his sister, but Sebastian cannot get the adorable Micah out of his mind.
Eventually Sebastian tracks down Micah, hoping to spend more time with him. But once again, Micah has responsibilities and feels like he cannot even start a relationship with the fun-loving, happy go lucky, Sebastian. But Sebastian has ghosts of his own, and he is struggling to be the person everyone wants him to be. Micah once again, pushes Sebastian away. How much can Micah do on his own without any help? Can Sebastian take one more rejection?
Reckless Hope is book 2 in the Letting Go series. I enjoyed this book, but I did have some problems with the back and forth between Sebastian and Micah. Also the constant reminder of Micah’s responsibilities was getting on my nerves.
I would recommend this book if you are in the mood for a quick read with a slow burn romance. I am looking forward to the 3rd book in the series Hero’s Return due out in January 2016.
I was provided a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
If you want a well written story of the Prince and the Pauper, this is for you. You'll get an enjoyable time.
A well written story line with acceptable angst and several emotional events is supported with good character development and a some interesting supporting characters.
4.25 stars! Great characters made this story. Micah and Sebastian are quite opposite from each other, from starkly different backgrounds. The physical attraction they have for each other is palpable but their emotional tango through ups and downs propels the story.
What an emotional roller coaster this story of Sebastian & Micah turned out to be! I enjoyed every page of it -- plot & emotions! Well edited, with no (or very few) editing errors, and well-defined, believable characters. Highly recommended, and I can hardly wait for the third story in the "Letting Go" series (this January, I believe).
